It is hard to believe that I am in my eighth year of mediation. In those eight years I have obtained all levels of certification the state of Florida has to offer including Appellate certification and have completed close to nine hundred mediations.
Over those eight years I have met many great people in the field of mediation and learned and some of the history of mediation in Florida.
I started with mediating through a court program where you show up on a Tuesday for an hour of training and then you go into the court room and are assigned cases to be mediated. This service is without compensation (pro bono) and is a service to our community. I also for the last three years have coordinated the Family Law Clinic sponsored by Legal Services of North Florida which is held quarterly. Both are giving back to the community.
It was not until recently when I was presented with a proclamation by the Chief judge of the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida did I realize the history of mediation in the circuit and the state of Florida. I have attached a copy of the proclamation for everyone.
